After that, it shows me a symbol that looks like a padlock, and after pressing enter(it's a second hand laptop, no manual or little paper with password on it, therefore just Laptops buy Sony and Toshiba. Might also want to check see if you didn't disconnect any other wires by changing the battery. I ended up doing hardcore elbow drops on it and nothing bad happened. 3 Days l8r the keyboard fixed itself. I tried a paper clip to spin it but no life. I thought that the printer would be completely compatible seeing as they ar eboth HP products. normally the jumper setting are either on the label of the drives or are marked on the bottom of the drives near the jumper drives.
But support IBM will rule. "L" I use IBM and Dell ThinkPad/Latitude machines at work. SOLUTION: put in a valid cmos battery into TP, make sure the six pin connector cable is well connected, this cable carries sound and eeprom info to inverter/keyboard/sound module. It is found in the same location as the memory. I've been trying for 3 days to turn on my laptop, and I've just been sitting there pressing teh on and off button because that's worked in the past. I have also pointed out a couple of inconsistencies in their web based driver documentation for the 760ED and I just get platitudes. So i reccomend not to use an external mouse.
Once I get the new batt & can confirm everything is running as it should, I will update the BIOS if necessary. These are the errors it gave me testing the systemboard. Then, booted without it and it gave me the 192 error. I tried to search on this problem before posting, but couldn't find an exact match to my problem.

I can't run off the battery, just replaced the freaking cmos backup battery, i can't even get into dos, what a HACK bios and non user friendly interface.
I prefer IBM cause the support is good.
