Ibm Error 192

Message board: DEV 00173 ERR 00192 FRU 00163 If someone knows how I can resolve this and get my laptop working again . Do you also get any other errors, eg., 161 or 163? When I plugged that into E-bay, I found a system board from a 600E: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... This is supposed to be a system fan error, but i'm not sure about it.

I 'm pretty sure I can change it to at least a 300 mhz, but if I can go higher than that, I am going to look into my options. I'm a senior citizen, so if I can do this, anyone can. Already have an account? I just have to do it every time I start up (initially I get the 2 beeps and the 00161/00163 error message). http://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/tip-ibm-thinkpad-192-error-2-bleep-test-screen.222763/

I hear a noise, but its probably the HD since there is no air coming from the vent holes. To start viewing messages, select the forum that you want to visit from the selection below. What may be happening is that the fan is not spinning up when the system is first powered on, thus the error.

The negative and positive leads are stamped into the surface of the battery so you have to pry them off carefully. Sometimes I've had to re-enter the time/date a second time before it remembered it. I'm writing this message from my newly restored 600x. Main board fault.

I just don't want to throw parts at it. I’m trying not to take this notebook apart. You should take this to an authorized repair shop and have them to fix it. I seem to recall seeing this on a couple TPs and correcting the problem by replacing the battery and resetting cmos. If I could put a system board from a 600e in my 600, then maybe i can increse the processor speed too? Sulman on May 14, 2007 at 3:21 pm said: FIXED! I would appreciate it..

It tried that once. Having just been inside my 600 last weekend, there's definitely no magic to the fan (and it almost looks as if you could replace the fan itself without changing the heatsink/duct I have a new (repacked) battery on its way since the one that came with the laptop is DOA.
