I've checked all my computer settings for this printer, as well. The problem: it scans to almost any program on my computer, but it cant print it back to the printer. I was using it and canceled the doc I was printing. This is a last resort: CAN SOMEONE HELP, OR SHALL I DUMP HP, AND GO FOR A NEW PRINTER WITH A DIFFERENT COMPANY?
HP Support Forums Join in the conversation. I was able to print a report of some sort using "*#" together then 1,2,7, right arrow, ok, left arrow ,ok". If the printer rejects that also(by saying that the cartridge has a problem, and not that it is out of ink) then the printer has a problem. I have come to the conclusion that this printer is just not a reliable product, and taking it into a repair shop, would probably cost me more than a new printer.

Some HP models have separate ink supplies and printheads, these models do have expiration dates of the ink to protect the permanent or semipermanent printheads.
