The best way to most accurately meter the toner is to use inductive resistance. If it sees zero page count, then it checks the ac bias through the 2 contacts. Check the high voltage contact (large spring wire) and corresponding post on the cartridge to ensure they will make good contact with each other. If it is not fully seated it might not be making contact with one of the connections.The service manual just says remove the tape, and does not say how the machine

Got to Ready and tried printing again and same error "51.1" So Moe you were right,removing the chip temporarily fixed my 54.1 error but now I am stuck with the 51.1 Removed cartridge and pried off the chip. I have tried several cartridges (work fine in other 4200's btw) and still get this error.

The front contact is toner out, the back one is toner low. Looks like it is in there nice and snug. Rectangular with a corner missing.

Just a theory. The wire needs to be brought up and hooked into the little black slot, and then it will slide down in place.
